A fake Tropic outlet copied 140 products, their photos, and cut every price by 70%.

Our domain sweep found 12 Tropic Skincare lookalike domains that were registered or live. Tropic is a common word, so several belonged to unrelated businesses, and one, tropic-skincare.com, simply forwarded to an ambassador page on tropic.com. Two were working stores selling Tropic products they had no right to sell: tropicskincareoutlet.com, registered on 22 August 2026, and tropicskincareshop.com, registered on 22 July 2026. Both use Tropic's own product photography.

What the scanner saw

The official Smoothing Cleanser page on tropic.com shows a white bottle on a pale green studio background, a folded bamboo cloth at its base, 3,940 reviews, and a price of £22.00.

tropicskincareoutlet.com opens the same product with the same photograph, a red -70% badge, and a price of $8.91 against a struck-through $29.70. Its header centres the TROPIC wordmark under a dark green bar, as tropic.com does. The visual assessment rated the store a likely copycat at 88% similarity.

The store did not need its own product shots. It took Tropic's, page by page, and put a 70% badge on each one.

Four signals behind the finding

01 · The catalogueProduct pages

tropicskincareoutlet.com lists 142 products. 140 of them use exactly the same web address as the matching product on tropic.com, from the Smoothing Cleanser to the Little Heroes Baby Collection, along with Tropic's product descriptions and size and scent options.

02 · The photographsProduct images

The store serves Tropic's studio packshots in the same order as the official pages. All six images of Youth Potion Advanced match tropic.com, with a combined image-hash distance of 0 to 2.

03 · The discountsPricing

Every item is marked -70%. Youth Potion Advanced drops from a struck-through $132.30 to $39.69; tropic.com sells it for £98. The Essential Collection is $29.16, against £72 on tropic.com and $123 on Tropic's US store.

04 · The pressureProduct pages

Product pages add counters that tropic.com does not use: 255 sold in last 17 hours, 193 customers are viewing this product, and Availability: Many In Stock.

A copied store, a formula for prices

The prices follow a simple rule. For 130 of the 140 matching products, the struck-through price is exactly 1.35 times Tropic's UK price, shown in dollars, and the sale price is 30% of that. The $132.30 Youth Potion Advanced is £98 multiplied by 1.35. Its products were all created on 21 August 2026, the day before the domain was registered.

The homepage goes further than the product pages. It repeats Tropic's founder story, with a photograph of the founder, and a banner reading Freshly made in our Surrey HQ. The contact page has no email address, only a form, and invites visitors to our Offline Stores without listing any. The footer reads Copyright 2026@Tropicskincareoutlet.Com.

A second store, in French

tropicskincareshop.com uses the same TROPIC wordmark and dark green colour, but on a different store platform and in French. Its page title copies tropic.com's own: Tropic Skincare | Natural, Freshly Made Skincare. Products are marked -50%. The Ocean Dive pore-clearing serum sells for €19.33, and its lead photograph matches Tropic's official image with a combined hash distance of 3. tropic.com sells that serum for £44.

The store claims 100% authentic, officially approved products and shows a one-hour countdown on each product page. Its shipping panel says orders ship from International, with delivery in 7 to 16 days. The two stores use different platforms and registrars, and we found nothing that ties them to the same operator.

Not every lookalike was a fake store

Tropic sells through ambassadors, so a brand-name domain is not proof of a fake. tropic-skincare.com forwarded to an ambassador's page on tropic.com, and the scanner's 84% similarity there reflects the real site. tropicbeauty.com is a Florida events company, and tropicshop.com, tropiccare.com, and tropicfresh.com are older, unrelated registrations. Two more were already suspended at the registry: tropicskincareshop.shop, registered on 18 June 2026, and tropicskincare.store, which is pending deletion.

The exact-image search on Tropic's product photos returned 21 matches on 18 unrelated websites, including an online shop, a travel site, and a marketing agency, reached through odd numbered web addresses. One was indexed as Illuma Light Diffusing Concealer – Tropic Skincare. This pattern suggests the sites were compromised to push shop pages into search results. The marketplace sweep was noise: the Amazon, Alibaba, and AliExpress results were for Hawaiian Tropic, Tree Hut's Tropic Glow range, and generic skincare.

What the evidence supports next

A practical enforcement sequence based on the archived finding.

1

Archive both stores

Preserve homepages, product pages, prices, contact pages, checkout paths, DNS records, and registration dates while the stores are live.

2

File with the store platforms

Send tropicskincareoutlet.com's store platform and tropicskincareshop.com's host each an evidence package, led by the matching product photographs.

3

Notify the registrars

Report both domains to their registrars with the copied catalogue, the Tropic wordmark, and the price comparison.

4

Watch the names

Monitor new Tropic Skincare domains that add outlet, shop, or store, and check each against Tropic's list of ambassador pages before acting.

The detail worth remembering

The outlet store did not guess at Tropic's catalogue. It reused 140 of Tropic's own product addresses, Tropic's photographs, and Tropic's UK prices, then applied one formula to all of them.

For a brand sold through ambassadors, shoppers are used to buying Tropic from websites that are not tropic.com. That makes a convincing copy harder to spot, and a real ambassador list more useful as a check.

Fake storefronts

A fake Nobody's Child store copied 12,817 products, and the brand's own terms of trade.

nobodyschildshop.com uses Nobody's Child's photos, product tags and legal pages, then marks everything about 70% off an inflated price. Three more lookalike stores were live, and two others had already been suspended.
