How do I estimate visitors per copycat?
Look at a few copycat domains in a traffic estimator, or use ad library data: an active ad campaign usually means thousands of visitors a month. If unsure, start low. The calculator is most useful for seeing the order of magnitude.
What is the substitution rate?
The share of copycat buyers who would have bought the genuine product if the copy did not exist. Shoppers hunting a bargain may never have paid full price, so it is rarely 100%.
Does this include brand damage?
No. Lost trust, lower ad performance, and bad reviews are real but hard to quantify, so they are left out. The estimate is conservative by design.
