You want new trademark filings watched. Takedown watches US (USPTO) applications and registrations that use your brand name in your goods classes, and puts the recent ones up for review first. Convey's site does not mention a trademark filing watch.

Where Convey is the better buy

Brand intelligence studies. Before enforcement it runs internet brand intelligence studies that measure legal and illegal use of a brand, its logos and its domain names across channels. Trade associations and public bodies get a measured picture of the problem, not only a takedown count.

Consortia and sector projects. It has run sector projects with Italian bodies, including a pilot with the automotive association ANFIA and a project mapping the Barolo designation of origin on online markets. Consortia protecting a shared name or designation get a firm with that experience.

An IP firm, not only software. Its enforcement favours administrative routes where possible, which it says brings economies of scale and better results. It also runs IP training, including a course preparing patent attorneys, so it works more like an IP firm than a software vendor.

Limits to know about

• Takedown: Its trademark watch covers US (USPTO) filings only. Brand Protector also watches the EUIPO, and Corsearch sells worldwide clearance and watch.
• Takedown: Social accounts are found by searching each platform for your brand name, so an account that never uses the name is missed, and Pinterest is not searched.
• Takedown: Etsy, Walmart and SHEIN are not searched directly; copies there are found through reverse image search.
• Convey: It does not publish a price; contact starts with a demo request.
• Convey: Much of its site and news is in Italian, and app stores and paid ads are not listed among its channels.
